By far the most trendy bikini style for 2021, thong bikinis have not only earned their place and freedom on the beach scene, resort circuit and the cruise world but have become the mainstay for many womens swimwear collections.
The thong bikini had enjoyed a steady growth year after year for the last decade but since COVID 19 invaded our life thong bikini sales have soared, maybe coincidence, possibly maybe not.
Women across the globe made their way to beaches in an attempt to add some level of normality to their lives. The 2021 variety of the thong bikini actually got its roots from the 1980’s. Three decades ago the ultra-high cut thigh bikini provided the means for a meager rear coverage design. The now popular high thigh thong is a not so distant cousin of the original high thigh Brazilian bikini but with quite a bit less rear coverage. In addition socks and running shoes are back in style with that new thong as well are belly chains.
The one piece swimsuit has also seen enormous growth but not the ones that come to mind, the one piece swimsuit often considered kept for our older years has now also acquired a thong backside bringing it into the 21st century.
Now here is another trend that no-one saw coming, swimsuit shops have been forced to change their inventory levels giving the cheeky styles priority to keep up with the surging demand which includes the thong , Tonga and G-string styles.
Social media mentioned earlier has also played a huge part in the thong bikini explosion. So many young girls have been discovered especially on Instagram when they are seen wearing a thong bikini and are now product ambassadors making thousands of dollars per post. Finally let’s be honest our fashion streams are heavily influenced by Hollywood trends and you will be hard pressed to find an actress, or singer / entertainer that is not showing some cheek in a thong bikini.
